Skin Needling in Queanbeyan: What to Expect, Downtime and How Many Sessions You Need

By Elements Face & Body · 12 September 2026 · Skin needling

Skin needling is coming soon to Elements. Call us on (02) 6298 1226 to register your interest and be first to book.

Skin needling is the treatment we're asked about most, and the one we're most passionate about. It's a results-focused treatment rather than a relaxation facial: it works with your skin's own repair process, and it's one of the best things you can do for texture, scarring and fine lines.

How skin needling works

Skin needling, also called collagen induction therapy or microneedling, uses a pen with very fine needles to create thousands of tiny, controlled channels in the skin. The skin responds to these micro-channels by producing fresh collagen and elastin. Over the following weeks, skin becomes firmer, smoother and more even.

The channels also let active serums reach the layers where they do the most good, which is why we pair needling with targeted products during the treatment.

What it helps with

What the treatment feels like

We start with a thorough cleanse and a numbing cream that sits on the skin for around 20 to 30 minutes. Once it's working, the needling itself takes 20 to 30 minutes for the full face. Most clients describe it as a mild scratching or warmth rather than discomfort. The cheeks and forehead are generally very tolerable; the upper lip and jawline can be slightly more sensitive.

We finish with a calming serum and a barrier cream, and you'll leave with some redness, similar to mild sunburn, which settles within a day or two.

Downtime

Expect redness for 24 to 48 hours, sometimes a little dryness or light flaking around day three. Most Queanbeyan clients book for a Thursday evening or Saturday morning so they're settled by Monday. For the first few days, keep it simple: gentle cleanser, hydrating serum, SPF, no makeup for 24 hours, no active ingredients like retinol or acids for a week, and no gym, sauna or pool for 48 hours.

How many sessions do you need?

One session gives you a glow. Real change comes from a course. For general texture and fine lines, we recommend three to four sessions spaced four to six weeks apart. For acne scarring, plan on four to six. Collagen keeps building for up to three months after each treatment, so results improve well after your last visit.

Who it isn't for

Skin needling isn't suitable over active acne, cold sores, eczema flare-ups, or a fresh tan. If you're pregnant, on isotretinoin, or have a history of keloid scarring, we'll talk through alternatives such as our hydrofacial or LED therapy.

Clients come to us from Jerrabomberra, Googong and Bungendore as well as Queanbeyan, and a consultation is always the first step so we can assess your skin and set realistic expectations.

Skin needling is launching soon. Call us to register your interest, or book a skin consultation now and we'll plan ahead for your skin.
